Nicotine and Its Addiction

Nicotine and other chemicals are only a small part of the equation. Once we’ve been smoking long enough for it to become habit, chemicals really become very minor in comparison to our emotional memories. Tobacco contains an addictive substance called nicotine which makes a person addicted. But, if the person has strong will power, it is not difficult for him or her to quit this habit.

It’s your mind that believes you need nicotine. It’s your mind that registers satisfaction when you get your buzz, or can object in the most dramatic ways if the desire is not satisfied.

Nicotine, the addictive substance in cigarettes, is what makes quitting smoking a challenge. Nicotine addiction has historically been one of the hardest addictions to break. This program entails several tactics including guidance, either personally or over the telephone, nicotine patches, educational materials and an instruction cessation strategy for seniors. In addition to the physical hold that the nicotine drug induces on your body, the mental part can be even more intense. Smoking becomes a series of bad habits that before long become part of a smoker’s life.

Light Cigarettes do not Exist!
The lower tar and nicotine numbers on light cigarette packs and in ads are misleading. Light cigarettes trick the smoking machines so that they record artificially low tar and nicotine levels. Smoking is an efficient way to absorb nicotine, an addictive drug that produces many pleasurable effects. However, nicotine does not cause cancer, heart attacks or emphysema. One drop of pure nicotinic acid can kill a man. According to the CDC, tobacco kills more than 440,000 people each year, in the US alone.
